Good Reads

I've been a book snob as long as I can remember. At fifth grade honors night, I recieved the library award for being the only student Mrs. Miller had ever met who could read and walk at the same time. Blame Harry Potter. My shy, nerdy 10 year old self just couldn't resist.

Are you looking for a great book? Look no further. Literary recommendations are my specialty (that, and sarcasm, of course). Below you'll find a list of the books on my nightstand at the moment with links below to order.

Kisses From Katie: Katie Davis

Kisses from Katie is the story of a woman whose heart was so radically transformed by the gospel that she picked up and moved to Uganda, where she adopted 20+ orphans at the age of 21. If you have a heart for the call to care for the widowed and orphaned, this book will rock you to your core.

The Third Option: Vince Flynn

I haven't read a lot of fiction lately, but I cannot put these books down. If you like the show 24, or you're into political, terrorism type thrillers, you'll be obsessed with Mitch Rapp in no time (he has quickly become the fictional man-of-my-dreams). If your're just starting out, you'll want to pick up American Assassin first.

My Utmost for His Highest: Oswald Chambers

Aside from the Bible, I cannot think of a single book that has been more influential in my walk with the Lord than My Utmost for His Highest. This daily devotional by Oswald Chambers stays in my work bag and is one I read every single day. The readings are fairly short, but they are also pretty heavy.

Also, if you're interested in keeping up with the news and you hate the media bias (which exists on both sides and is totally obnoxious), below you will find a few news sites that I check daily.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com

RCP puts out a list of the top ten to fifteen articles of the day from a varitey of sources and perspectives. They also track a large list of polls, which are updated daily as well. I check these polls obsessively.

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

FiveThirtyEight is a blog written by NYT columnist Nate Silver, who has extensive experience in collecting and analyzing polling data. If you want to know a little more about what the polls actually mean, fivethirtyeight is your blog and Nate is your guy.

http://www.politico.com

They have everything. Seriously.
